HYDROPHONE

We carry a hydrophone on board

to detect and record the songs emitted by these marine mammals.

This is a unique opportunity to connect with the whales through the power of their sounds.

WHICH WHALE SPECIES CAN WE SEE IN LOS CABOS?

HUMPBACK WHALE

• Acrobatic behavior (breaching, tail slaps, and flipper slapping).

• Complex songs used for communication and courtship.

• Exceptionally long pectoral fins (the longest of any marine animal).

• Unique fluke patterns used for photo-identification.

• Long-distance migrations between feeding and breeding grounds.

GRAY WHALE

• Robust body characterized by mottled skin and parasite scars.

• One of the longest migrations of any mammal on Earth.

• Benthic feeder: dives to filter and strain sediment from the seafloor.

• Highly social mother-calf pairs, famously trusting in breeding lagoons.

• Less acrobatic, showcasing a generally calmer and more deliberate behavior.

TOUR

Our journey begins in the bay of Cabo San Lucas. Before heading out for our wildlife encounter, we will observe the most iconic landmarks at the very edge of the peninsula:

Empacadora Beach
Medano Beach
Pelican Beach
Lover's Beach
Neptune's Finger

«Land’s End» The last rock on the map and the end of Mexico
We then venture into the open sea in search of the whales—crossing into the pristine waters of the Sea of Cortez or the vast Pacific Ocean.
